The present invention relates to a device and a method for controlling a bidirectional DC-DC converter to reduce an inrush current. The device for controlling an operation of a bidirectional DC-DC converter performs bidirectional voltage conversion of a boost mode and a buck mode between a high voltage terminal and a low voltage terminal. The device for controlling an operation of a bidirectional DC-DC converter includes: a current detecting unit monitoring an inductor current of the bidirectional DC-DC converter; a duty calculation unit calculating a duty value by using an input voltage and an output voltage generated in each terminal; a proportional integral calculation unit proportionally integrating deviation by comparing the monitored inductor current with a predetermined standard current when a relay of the high voltage terminal and the relay of the low voltage terminal are interfaced to the bidirectional DC-DC converter, and generating a proportional integral control value by substituting the duty value for an integral value; and a switching control unit generating a control signal to control a pair of switch terminals included in the bidirectional DC-DC converter based on the generated proportional integral control value. |
