A method of cleaning up a particulate filter 280 of an internal combustion engine 110, comprising the steps of: operating the internal combustion engine 110 to regenerate the particulate filter 280; measuring, during the regeneration, a value of an engine speed; controlling a temperature of the particulate filter 280, if the measured value of the engine speed is smaller than or equal to a predetermined threshold value thereof; wherein the controlling of the particulate filter temperature includes thesteps of boosting the internal combustion engine 110 and supplying it with an amount of re-circulated exhaust gases. The boosting of the engine may be carried out by an auxiliary electric compressor 300, and the temperature of the particulate filter 280 may be controlled in response to a measured variation rate in engine speed. |
