358,549. Annular reflecting prisms. GRAL PRISMA GES., 3, Prinz Eugenstrasse, Vienna. July 4, 1930, No. 20296. Convention date, May 15. [Classes 39 (ii), 75 (ii), and 75 (iv).] An annular reflecting prism is axially adjustable with respect to a surrounded source of light by means of a holder engaging the periphery of the prism. In the form shown, the holder comprises resilient wire brackets 2 having notches, serrations, corrugations 3 or the like for engaging the prism 1. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the invention is an improvement in or modification of that described in Specification 352,724 and comprises also the following subject-matter. A number of totally reflecting annular prisms 2, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), may be formed on a common glass member 1 so that part of the rays reflected by any one prism passes through the prism next below. An annular reflecting prism may be fitted internally with a transparent annulus 15, Fig. 10 (Cancelled), which may be of one or more colours or may carry figures, announcements, or the like, and may be rotatable or otherwise adjustable for signalling or advertising purposes. Alternatively, the annulus may be coated with a luminous substance and the source of light dispensed with. An annular reflecting prism 16, Fig. 11 (Cancelled), may be formed integrally with an electric lamp bulb 7. In another arrangement, precious stones or other articles may be arranged within an annular reflecting prism so as to be illuminated by reflection from external sources of light. Other modifications are described including making the prisms polygonal instead of circular, or in the form of letters or the like, and using them in combination with lenses and reflectors. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
