摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling mechanism for a spindle of a machine tool, while retaining remaining oil in a passage by a simple mechanism, capable of preventing leakage due to a backflow of cooling liquid from a return passage when circulation of the cooling liquid is stopped upon occurrence of abnormal air supply. <P>SOLUTION: A cooling mechanism 32 for a spindle 1 includes: an external cooling liquid flow path 24 having supply passages 22, 22... for supplying cooling liquid from a supply source 21 to the inside of the spindle 1 and return passages 23, 23... for returning the cooling liquid from the inside of the spindle 1 to the supply source 21; an internal cooling liquid flow path 25 for causing the cooling liquid to flow in the spindle 1; and an air seal means 26 for supplying air in a gap between a fixed component fixed to a housing 2 and the spindle 1 for preventing leakage of the cooling liquid.
