PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery, which has a uniform thickness in a plane of a negative electrode active material layer, and enables the achievement of high cycle characteristics.SOLUTION: A negative electrode 10 comprises a negative electrode active material layer 14 including a negative electrode active material 16, a binder 17 and silica particles 18. The silica particles 18 have an average particle diameter of 7-20 μm. The proportion that the silica particles 18 account for in the whole negative electrode active material layer 14 is 0.12-0.4 mass%. Further, according to another aspect of the present invention, a lithium ion secondary battery comprising the negative electrode 10 is provided. |
