PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery which enables, by an optimum combination of an electrolyte and a negative electrode active material, the increase in rate capacity while ensuring the safety.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous secondary battery comprises a high-concentration electrolyte which contains a metal salt and an organic solvent having a hetero atom. Supposing that of the intensities of peaks from the organic solvent, the intensity of a peak originally coming from the organic solvent is "I", and the intensity of a peak resulting from the shift of the original peak is "I" in vibrational spectra of the electrolyte, the peak intensities "I" and "I" satisfy the following relation: I>I. The nonaqueous secondary battery further comprises a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer. The negative electrode active material layer includes carbon material. With the carbon material, a crystallite size calculated from a half-value width of a peak arising in a 2&thetas; range of 20-30 degrees in an X-ray diffraction profile measured by X-ray diffraction is 20 nm or less. |
