The present invention provides a split knitting method wherein stable knitting is possible without decreasing knitting efficiency as there is no concern of breakage of threads even when split stitches and a knit are mixed in the same knit course. A cam system (6) is set for transfer operation. A knitting needle joining a globular stitch is advanced toward a needle bed gap (8) as a stitch delivery side. For example, when a carriage is moved toward a left side, operation of the knit in a front needle in an A position is performed as a stitch cam (12) inserts the knitting needle into the needle bed. In operation in a delivering side of the split stitch, the stitch cam (12) is prevented from inserting the knitting needle by pressurization by a half-presser (21) only on a trailing side in a front needle in an H position. An insertion amount when a stitch on the delivering side is formed on the knitting needle on the delivering side is reduced to be less than an insertion amount when a new stitch of the knit is formed. Therefore, load of knitting threads can be reduced. |
