The present invention relates to an air conditioner capable of minimizing usage of a refrigerant. The air conditioner comprises: an air conditioning unit providing mixed air wherein return air supplied after circulating indoors and outdoor air supplied outdoors are mixed, and the outdoor air formed of only the outdoor air, to the inside of a building by a rising and decreasing temperature of the outdoor air; a return air temperature sensing unit installed in the air conditioning unit, measuring the temperature of the return air; a return air humidity sensing unit installed in the air conditioning unit, measuring a relative humidity of the return air; an outdoor air temperature sensing unit installed in the air conditioning unit, measuring the temperature of the outdoor air; an outdoor air humidity sensing unit installed in the air conditioning unit, measuring the relative humidity of the outdoor air; and a controller controlling the air conditioning unit to perform only a cooling operation by the inflow of the outdoor air without a supply of a predetermined refrigerant in response to a result wherein a return air temperature enthalpy calculated based on the return air temperature and the return air humidity, and an outdoor air temperature enthalpy calculated based on the outdoor air temperature and the outdoor air relative humidity. |
