<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device that allows a user to conveniently use a character input application. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic device includes: first and second display units; first and second touch panels for receiving input to the first and second display units, respectively; and a control unit for controlling display of the first and second display units and controlling the first and second touch panels. When an application capable of character input is started up and character input is performed, the control unit starts up a first display area for displaying an input character string on the first display unit, and starts up a second display area for editing the character string in the first display area on the second display unit in accordance with an external instruction.
