A sheet feeding apparatus, comprising: a rotatable portion configured to be rotatable; a drive unit configured to generate a driving power and to rotate the rotatable portion; a stacking member on which a sheet is stacked; a sheet feeding member configured to feed the sheet by contacting the sheet stacked on the stacking member, the sheet feeding member being configured to feed the sheet according to a rotation of the rotatable portion; an elevating unit configured to switch a state of the stacking member and the sheet feeding member between a contact state where the sheet stacked on the stacking member and the sheet feeding member are contacted and a separate state where the sheet stacked on the stacking member and the sheet feeding member are separated according to the rotation of the rotatable portion; and a clutch mechanism configured to transmit the driving power from the drive unit to the sheet feeding member, the clutch mechanism comprising: a clutch input portion;a clutch output portion configured to transmit the driving power from the drive unit to the sheet feeding member via the clutch input portion in a state that the clutch input portion engages with the clutch output portion; anda movement mechanism configured to move the clutch input portion between a disengagement position where the clutch input portion disengages from the clutch output portion and an engagement position where the clutch input portion engages with the clutch output portion according to the rotation of the rotatable portion.
