PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method of automated cutting of side walls of honeycomb structures.SOLUTION: An automated apparatus 200 includes an end effector 206 and a cutting tool 202 coupled to the end effector 206. The end effector 206 is configured to position the cutting tool 202 in an initial cutting position on the basis of a schematic geometry of a honeycomb core 208. The automated apparatus 200 also includes an adaptive vision system 224 configured to direct the end effector 206 to modify the initial cutting position, where the direction is based on an actual geometry of the honeycomb core 208 acquired by the adaptive vision system 224. |
