PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a good quality optical glass element that enables high speed heating of a molding die in a temperature control process for press molding of an optical glass material and prevents the temperatures of the molding die and the glass material from falling too low in a slow cooling step.SOLUTION: An optical glass element manufacturing apparatus 10 that manufactures an optical glass element by press molding of a molding material accommodated in a molding die 30 while controlling temperature by heating the molding material together with the molding die 30 comprises: a heater 51 that is disposed around the molding die 30 to heat the molding die 30 and the molding material; a first temperature sensor 55 that measures ambient temperature between the heater 51 and the molding die 30; and a control part 60 that controls the temperature of the heater 51 so that a value detected by the first temperature sensor 55 does not become equal to or less than a temperature (Tg-20°C) lower than the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the molding material by 20°C during a period from the start of the press molding of the molding material to the end of the slow cooling. |
