PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily set an image plane as an object of image composition when an image of the image plane focused on a subject at an arbitrary distance is composed of photographic data after photography. SOLUTION: An image composition apparatus includes a microlens array 7 in which a plurality of microlenses are arrayed, a light receiving element array 6 having a plurality of light receiving elements for the plurality of microlenses, and receiving luminous flux from an optical system 1 through the microlenses to output a plurality of received light signals, a detecting means 11 of detecting a deviation amount of an image plane by the optical system 1 when the received light signals are received, and an image generating means 17 of selecting some of the plurality of received light signals based upon the deviation amount detected by the detecting means 11 and generating an image signal based upon the selected some of the received light signals.
