PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing the occurrence of paper jam or the like by keeping a gap between a separation plate and a fixing member constant over the whole area of a paper passing area in the width direction.SOLUTION: The separation mechanism 34 of the fixing device includes a separation plate 41 which has a top end edge 41a facing the paper passing area of a fixing member 38, a pair of butting members 42 which come into contact with the non-paper passing area of the fixing member 38, a support member 43 which supports the separation plate 41 and the butting members 42, so as to form a gap having a predetermined dimension between the top end edge 41a of the separation plate 41 and the paper passing area, in such a state that the butting members 42 are in contact with the non-paper passing area, and a tension spring 44 which energizes the support member 43 in a direction where the butting members 42 are pressed to the fixing member 38. The support member 43 can be rotated in the direction where the butting members 42 are brought into contact with and separated from the fixing member 38 and can be moved in the circumferential direction of a circle around the top end edge 41a of the separation plate 41. |
