PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inclined axis-type axial piston machine in which the locking of a piston in a drive flange is easier to manufacture and the axial dimension of the machine can be reduced.SOLUTION: An inclined axis-type axial piston machine (1) comprises a drive shaft (4) provided with a rotatable drive flange (3), and a rotatable cylinder block (7). The cylinder block is provided with a plurality of piston bores (8) in each of which a piston (10) is disposed. For fastening the piston to the drive flange in a pivoted manner, there are provided a hemispherical face-shaped receptacle shell (3a) in an end surface (3b) of the drive flange and a boll head (10a) of the piston. A retaining web (30) is formed in the vicinity of the receptacle shell (3a) in the end surface of the drive flange. The retaining shell extends beyond the ball equator of the hemisphere to grip a ball head at an angle of greater than 180°.
