391,603. Water-gas generators. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW, Ltd. and GLASGOW, A. G., Humglas House, Carlisle Place, London. April 20, 1932, No. 11369. [Class 55 (i).] In the production of water gas, wherein the blast gases are used to store heat in recuperative chambers, and for steam production, the amount of steam produced is regulated by varying during back-running the point or points of steam admission so that the steam recovers none or a varying amount of the stored heat before entering the generator. Blast gases from a generator a are used to heat a carburetter b, superheater c and steam boiler d, primary air being admitted by a pipe e, and secondary air to the chambers b, c and d. Steam is admitted from a main l through branches m, n and o each having a separate valve, so that the amounts of steam supplied by each branch may be controlled, and all the steam for a down run may be admitted through any one of two branches. A suitable steam control, Fig. 2, comprises a pair of valves 4, 5 on a common stem 6, by movement of which one valve is completely closed when the other is open, and both branches n and o may be put in communication with the steam supply, the proportion of steam passing to each being regulated.
|
