METHOD FOR PREPARING A FILTER MATERIAL COMPRISING CALCIUM HYDROXIDE

A filter material comprises lightweight aggregate, calcium hydroxide and water which have been mixed by grinding during the preparation of filter material. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) the preparation of the above filter material by (A) wetting crushed lightweight aggregate and/or lightweight aggregate granule mixture with water; (B) grinding the wetted crushed lightweight aggregate and/or lightweight aggregate granule mixture; and (C) adding calcium hydroxide to the ground crushed lightweight aggregate and/or lightweight aggregate granule mixture while simultaneously continuing grinding; and (2) a filter cartridge, e.g. tube, bag, and/or basket, containing the above filter material.
