1. A process for the reduction of metal oxides to form metalized material by contact with hot reducing gas, wherein the reducing gas is produced at least partially by catalytic reformation, in a reformer, of a mixture of a gas containing at least one of carbon dioxide (CO2) and steam with gaseous hydrocarbons, the process comprising:
providing heat for the catalytic reformation in the reformer at least partially by combustion of a fuel gas, drawing off from the reformer the combustion off-gas that is produced the combustion of the fuel gas, cooling the combustion off-gas to remove water from the combustion off-gas and obtain an off-gas that contains less water, providing pure oxygen, producing a gas mixture from at least a partial quantity of the off-gas that contains less water and the pure oxygen, and supplying the gas mixture to the reformer for combustion to provide heat for the catalytic reformation. |
