PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas recirculation device capable of securing a desired EGR amount even when deposits are continuously accumulated, without complicating the construction and control of an EGR valve 3 and an electronic control device 4.SOLUTION: The EGR valve 3 includes a valve port 32 and a valve element 33 for determining the flow amount of EGR gas. When the flow characteristics of an on-demand predetermined EGR amount are defined as rated flow characteristics Q0, the valve port 32 has a sufficient opening area to secure initial flow characteristics QX of the flow characteristics greater than the rated flow characteristics Q0. The electronic control device 4 includes flow amount detecting means 48, and control means 49 using the valve element 33 for reducing the opening area of the valve port 32 to match the flow characteristics of the EGR valve 3 to the rated flow characteristics Q0 when the flow amount detecting means 48 detects the EGR amount greater than the rated flow characteristics Q0. Thus, when deposits are accumulated on the valve port 32 and the valve element 33, the desired EGR amount can be secured. |
