PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for converting an ion component separated by ion chromatography to an ion which has detectable absorbance.SOLUTION: A method for converting an ion B of an ionic compound AB (in the formula, one of A and B represents cation and the other represents anion) comprises the steps of: (1) obtaining AC (in the formula, C represents an Hion or an OHion) by converting AB by an ion exchange medium 6; and (2) converting the AC obtained in step (1) to AD (in the formula, D is an ion which has detectable absorbance, and has the same electric charge as C) by a salt exchanger 7. Quantitative determination by an absorbance detector 8 becomes possible without reference to absorbance characteristics of the separated ion component. |
