A system and method for making a recommendation for increasing a newsworthiness score for a news story that includes determining, by the processor, the newsworthiness score for the news story, analyzing at least one of: a set of pre-determined factors in data describing the news story, or at least one of a set of pre-calculated values, to identify a change to the data describing the news story that will increase the newsworthiness score, and generating, by the processor, a recommendation, where the recommendation includes instructions to implement the change to the data.

1. A computer system for making a recommendation for increasing a newsworthiness score for a news story, the computer system comprising:
a memory; and a processor in communications with the memory, wherein the computer system is configured to perform a method, the method comprising:
determining, by the processor, the newsworthiness score for the news story, wherein the determining comprises:
obtaining, by the processor, data describing a news story from a client;comparing, by the processor, the data describing the news story to a set of pre-determined factors to locate at least one of the set of pre-determined factors in the data describing the news story; andresponsive to locating the at least one of the set of pre-determined factors in the data describing the news story, adding at least one of a set of pre-calculated values to a running total,
wherein each one of the set of pre-determined factors is assigned a respective one of the set of pre-calculated values and the at least one of the set of pre-calculated values added to the running total is a pre-calculated value associated with the at least one of the pre-determined factors located in the data, andwherein the running total comprises the newsworthiness score; andanalyzing the at least one of: the set of pre-determined factors in the data describing the news story, or the at least one of a set of pre-calculated values, to identify a change to the data describing the news story that will increase the newsworthiness score; andgenerating, by the processor, a recommendation, wherein the recommendation comprises instructions to implement the change to the data.
