PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a ceramic honeycomb structure that suppresses chips at the corner of an outer peripheral wall on the end face of a ceramic honeycomb structure when the ceramic honeycomb structure is transferred to the following drying step after applying a coating material to the outer peripheral face of a long and large ceramic honeycomb structure especially having a large outer diameter of 150 mm or more and a length of 200 mm or more.SOLUTION: After a ceramic honeycomb structure sandwiched between a first and a second holders has its outer peripheral face coated with a coating material and is then arranged so that its axial direction is nearly the vertical direction, it is taken out of the holders. The ceramic honeycomb structure is put on a retrieving plate member having a protrusion and an opening on the face on which the ceramic honeycomb structure is put, and then transferred. |
