<p>A variable output speed system unit includes a rotatable input crank 1, having a controllable movable pivot 2, the pivot engaging a pair of arms 3. Pivot 2 also acts with a rack and pinion [Fig 2, 12] which is in turn connected with mechanical sliding plates 13. One of the arms locates controllable and rotatable cogwheels 4. The cogwheels engage a gear 6. As the input crank rotates and the pivot is moved towards or away from the crank axis 7 the cogwheels are controlled by the rotation of a pair of mechanical control plates 13 these may be linked via a pivoting connecting bridge [Fig 2, 15] and their interaction with pegs 14 located on cogwheels 4. The arm output rotation speed will change compared with the input crank speed. In a further embodiment the mechanical control means may be replaced with a hydraulic control means [Figs 3 and 4].</p> |
