The present invention addresses the problem of providing a scratch resistant edge light-type backlight reflection film and a backlight using the backlight reflection film. A solution for the problem is to use an edge light-type backlight reflection film that has a substrate film and a particle-containing layer containing particles having a particle diameter of 25 to 50 μm and particles having a particle diameter of 1 to 15 μm and has protrusions satisfying the following requirements (i) to (iii) at least on one surface thereof: (i) Protrusions having a diameter of 25 to 50 μm are present. (ii) The number of protrusions having a diameter of 25 to 50 μm and separately present without making contact with each other is 10 to 100 per 0.64 mm2. (iii) The number of protrusions included in a protrusion aggregation in which protrusions having a diameter of 25 to 50 μm continuously make contact with each other is 10 or less per 0.64 mm2.
