According to an embodiment of the present invention, a device for charging an electric vehicle comprises: a power supply part which receives external alternative current power; a charging part which charges a battery of an electric vehicle by converting the received external alternative current power into direct current power; a battery sensor part which monitors a charged state of the battery; a control part which determines a battery charging mode that is a method for charging the battery based on at least one from the external alternative current power and the charged state of the battery, and controls the operation of charging the battery based on the determined battery charging mode; and an inverter part which operates a motor of the electric vehicle based on the power charged in the battery, and charges the battery by receiving the external alternative current power to convert the received external alternative current power into direct current power. |
