PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a reflection type display device, whereby occurrence of non-uniform display failure can significantly be inhibited by inhibiting occurrence of non-uniform component distribution of a display medium when two substrates are bonded.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for a reflection type display device comprises: a barrier formation step in which a barrier is formed in the display area of one substrate; an adhesion layer formation step in which an adhesion layer is formed on the barrier; a display medium arrangement step in which a liquid display medium is arranged on the display area of one substrate or on the display area of the other substrate; and a substrate bonding step in which the one and the other substrates are bonded to each other. In the display medium arrangement step, the display medium is arranged such that the height from the substrate-side face of the display medium to the face reverse to the substrate side in the display area is greater than the height from the substrate-side face of the barrier to the face of the adhesive layer reverse to the substrate side and such that the difference between the height from the substrate-side face of the display medium to the face reverse to the substrate side in the display area and the height from the substrate-side face of the barrier to the face of the adhesive layer reverse to the substrate side is less than 55μm.
