PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of suppressing decrease in a contrast ratio, and electronic equipment using the liquid crystal device.SOLUTION: One aspect of the liquid crystal device of the present invention includes a first substrate and a second substrate opposing to each other, a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate, a polarizing plate disposed at an opposite side of the first substrate to the liquid crystal layer, and a retardation plate disposed between the first substrate and the polarizing plate. At least one face in the first substrate, the second substrate, the polarizing plate and the retardation plate has a reflection suppressing structure where a plurality of projections made of a light-transmitting material is arranged between the polarizing plate and the liquid crystal layer; and the plurality of projections in the reflection suppressing structure is arranged in such a manner that an interval between two adjacent projections is shorter than a wavelength of visible rays. |
