The purpose of the present invention is to provide a feeder which retains a carrier tape which is in a state of waiting for being moved and fed. A feeder is provided with: a pressing member for pressing a carrier tape against a rail; an engagement member capable of engaging with feeding holes in the carrier tape; and a coordination mechanism for moving the engagement member upward in coordination with the upward movement of the pressing member. The engagement member engages with the feeding holes in the carrier tape and prevents the movement of the carrier tape toward an insertion section. The coordination mechanism moves the engagement member upward in coordination with the upward movement of the pressing member to thereby release the engagement member from the feeding holes in the carrier tape, permitting the carrier tape to move in the transport direction. |
