Provided is an elevator device comprising a first governor that detects overspeed during ascending operations and a second governor that detects overspeed during descending operations and configured so that rotation of a sheave is transferred to the second governor via a cam-type one-way clutch, said elevator device being configured so that the second governor is prevented from mistakenly detecting descending overspeed during ascending operations, and impact to the governor when transitioning to descending operations is minimized. This elevator device has a rotation inhibiting mechanism that inhibits a rotary body of the second governor from rotating when the rotation of the sheave is released from being transferred to the second governor during ascending operations or the like. |
