<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give a constant and stable tension to recording paper even if a conveyance path of the recording paper changes in accordance with variation in diameter of a recording paper roll, thereby performing a stable printing operation continuously. <P>SOLUTION: A printer includes a casing provided with a support mechanism 21 that pivotally supports roll paper R formed by winding the recording paper P; a printing module 3 that is combined with the casing and performs printing while sending the recording paper; and a tension member 50 that is arranged within the casing and gives tension to the recording paper during a period from when the recording paper is drawn out until when the recording paper reaches the printing module.
