an image processing apparatus configured to generate a print image based on a print job received from an external apparatus; and an image output apparatus configured to print using the print image transmitted from the image processing apparatus, the image processing apparatus comprising: a determination unit configured to determine whether the image processing apparatus can communicate with the external apparatus; and a first transmission unit configured to, if the determination unit determines that the image processing apparatus cannot communicate with the external apparatus, transmit to the image output apparatus an instruction to cause the image output apparatus to transition to a power saving state, the image output apparatus comprising: a first reception unit configured to receive the instruction transmitted from the first transmission unit; and a first control unit configured to, if the first reception unit has received the instruction, cause the image output apparatus to transition to the power saving state.
