摘要 Provided is a liquid crystal aligning agent which is capable of forming a liquid crystal alignment film either by a rubbing method or by a photo-alignment method, said liquid crystal alignment film having high voltage holding ratio, excellent liquid crystal aligning properties, and less residual charge accumulated by a direct-current voltage. A liquid crystal aligning agent which is characterized by containing the component (A) and component (B) described below and an organic solvent. Component (A): At least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polyimide precursors, imidized polymers of the polyimide precursors and photosensitive side-chain acrylic polymers that exhibit liquid crystallinity within the temperature range of 100-300°C. Component (B): a compound having an alkoxysilyl group and a urea structure substituted at the 1-position and the 3-position. (In the formula, X2 represents an n-valent organic group containing an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1-20 carbon atoms, or the like; n represents an integer of 1-6; R2 represents a hydrogen atom or the like, and R2 may form a ring structure together with X2; L represents an alkylene group having 2-20 carbon atoms; each of R3 and R4 independently represents an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, or the like; and q represents an integer of 1-3.)
