Provided is a protection member capable of airtightly protecting a liquid supply unit. A cartridge (100) has an ink supply port (112) in a bottom surface (101), and an atmospheric port (128) in an upper surface (102). The protection member (200) is configured such that the protection member can be attached to the cartridge (100). The protection member (200) is provided with a film section (201) capable of sealing the atmospheric port (128), and a cap section (220) capable of sealing the ink supply port (112). A cap section (220) has a supporting section (232) having a film section (201) bonded to an upper end surface (235). The supporting section (232) is provided in a region facing a left side surface (105) of the cartridge (100).
