A video conference implementation method and a multipoint control unit. The implementation method comprises: counting, by an MCU, to obtain network quality parameters of various terminals; determining, by the MCU, categories to which the various terminals in a video conference belong according to video formats used by the terminals; ranking, by the MCU, the network quality parameters of all terminals in each category in an order from big to small to obtain a ranked parameter sequence, and segmenting the parameter sequence to obtain a predetermined amount of sequence fragments; and allocating, by the MCU, the same encoding hardware resource used for forward error correction code (FEC) encoding processing for terminals corresponding to various parameters in the same sequence fragment, and enabling the FEC encoding processing for various terminals in the sequence fragment according to the worst network quality parameter in the sequence fragment, so as to obtain an encoded code stream and send same to a corresponding terminal. The present invention realizes the differentiated FEC encoding processing for different network qualities of terminals on an MCU of a limited encoding resource. |
