In an internal combustion engine having cylinder bores, this heat insulation device is arranged in the middle and lower portion of a groove-form cooling water flow path in the cylinder block of the internal combustion engine, insulates part of the bore wall of all cylinder bores, and is characterized by being provided with a rubber member which, of the middle and lower portion of the cylinder bore-facing wall surface of the groove-shape cooling water flow path, is in contact with the wall surface portion of one cylinder bore or a wall surface portion that extends across two or more cylinder bores; a metal base body member to which the rubber member is fixed; and elastic members which are attached to the metal base body member and which impart a bias such that the metal base body member presses the rubber member towards the middle and lower portion of the cylinder bore-facing wall surface of the groove-form cooling water flow path, wherein one or more of the elastic members are provided for each bore section of the metal base body member. By means of the present invention, it is possible to provide a cylinder bore wall heat insulation device in which insulation can be selectively provided to the places of the cylinder bore wall that require insulation and in which position shifts due to the vibration or the flow of cooling water are not prone to occur. |
