The invention is related to a process for the production of a photocatalyst, where the process includes the recovery of nickel and cadmium from nickel and cadmium waste electric batteries and the mixing of the same with an oxide-metallic semiconductor. The photocatalyst thus obtained may be used in most of the types of photocatalytic reactions.
