a storage module including a battery block; a controller communicatively coupled to the storage module and configured to: count a number of communication errors that occur with the storage module; responsive to the number of communication errors exceeding a first threshold, suspending operation of the storage module; changing the number of counted communication errors based on at least one communication with the storage module that does not include an error; and responsive to the number of communication errors exceeding a second threshold, resuming operation of the storage module.
