A method and an apparatus for recommending contents are disclosed. A method for recommending contents performed in an apparatus for recommending contents comprises: collecting contents use information of a user; profiling a contents use history for each time unit and each user group on the basis of the collected information; determining a contents recommendation time point on the basis of the contents use information; providing a contents recommendation list on the basis of a user profile collected at the determined contents recommendation time point; reproducing contents selected from the provided contents recommendation list by the user; and updating contents providing information to the user profile. Accordingly, since a contents recommendation time point optimized for a user is determined and a contents recommendation list optimized for the user on the basis of a user profile is provided at the determined time point, it is possible to accurately provide a user-desired contents recommendation list. |
