Embodiments of the present invention provide a signal transmission method and apparatus, and can implement fast initial time synchronization. The method comprises: a sending end device generates an initial short training sequence, the initial short training sequence comprising M subsequences b, and the subsequence b comprising N sending sampling points; determines the number of receiving sampling points used by a receiving end device when performing autocorrelation processing; generates a symbol sequence according to the number of the receiving sampling points, the symbol sequence being represented as {a 0,a 1,…,a i,…,a K-1}, and generates a target short training sequence according to the symbol sequence and the initial short training sequence, the target short training sequence being represented as {a 0b,a 1b,…,a ib,…,a K-1b}, so that only one peak value greater than a preset target threshold appears in a processing result obtained when the receiving end device performs the autocorrelation processing on the target short training sequence according to a preset rule; and sends a target signal to the receiving end device, a short training sequence field of the target signal carrying a short training sequence symbol, and the short training sequence symbol being used for indicating the target training sequence. |
