Provided in the embodiment of the present invention are a beamforming-based communication method and an apparatus, which relate to the communication field. The direction and width of beams are controlled through the use of a tertiary structure while hardware utilization is reduced. The method comprises: a sending end obtaining a sending end pre-coding matrix TrBB, a sending end intermediate frequency beamforming matrix TrIF and a sending end radio frequency end beamforming matrix TrRF according to feedback information from a receiving end; obtaining a first data stream and pre-coding the first data stream according to the TrBB to generate a first analog signal; weighting and power-amplifying the first analog signal according to the TrIF to generate a second analog signal; weighting and power-amplifying the second analog signal according to the TrRF to generate a third analog signal; and determining an antenna array matched with the third analog signal and transmitting the third analog signal to the receiving end through the antenna array matched with the third analog signal.
