The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for allocating a resource, which can improve the utilization efficiency of a resource of a network by using information on asset delivery characteristics (ADC) in a multimedia system. According to the present invention, the method for allocating the resource of the network in an intermediate node of the multimedia system, comprises the following steps: receiving a packet including information on the ADC from a transmission unit; confirming the information on the ADC included in the packet, and extracting specific values of current traffic of assets which are transmitted through a first flow from the information on the ADC; confirming the amount of the usable resource by comparing the amount of the resource reserved as a representative value through a resource reservation protocol of the network, with the extracted specific value; and allocating the amount of the confirmed resource to a second flow. |
