METHOD FOR PRODUCING MICROSPHERES LOADED WITH DRUGS

The present invention relates to a method for producing polymer microspheres with an increased drug encapsulation efficiency. More particularly, the method includes the steps of producing an inner water phase (W1) including a drug, a thickener, and an aqueous solvent and producing an oil phase including a polymer and a fat-soluble solvent; producing a W1/O emulsion by mixing the inner water phase and the oil phase and increasing viscosity by cooling the W1/O emulsion; producing a W1/O/W2 emulsion by including the W1/O emulsion with increased viscosity, dispersing the W1/O emulsion in an outer water phase (W2) with the temperature maintained to be 18°C or lower, and mixing the W1/O emulsion and the W2/O emulsion at 180°C for 10 minutes or more; and drying the W1/O/W2 emulsion produced in the earlier step and recollecting the W1/O/W2 emulsion. The method of the present invention can be effective for producing a slow release drug as a drug encapsulation efficiency is increased by a process of maintaining a certain temperature for a certain time to solidify the oil phase, and the polymer microspheres with a high drucg content can be produced.
