Methods and apparatus for creating in-video objects for a video file include identifying a number of segments of the video file, creating a metadata file containing attributes of the segment for each of the segments, and creating a table of contents for the video content, the table of contents including visual representations of each of the segments.

for an identified segment of a video file of a first file format, creating a metadata file of a second file format different than the first file format and containing an attribute of the segment; and creating a table of contents for the identified segment of the video file, the table of contents comprising a visual representation for the segment and a hyperlink configured to access the metadata file; wherein the metadata file contains metadata configured to access a particular position of the video file corresponding to the segment.
