PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frame interpolation device or the like for generating an interpolation frame of a natural image.SOLUTION: The frame interpolation device includes: a motion vector interpolation part for allocating an interpolated motion vector which is calculated on the basis of a motion vector indicating a motion of an image between frames and a time position of an interpolation frame to be inserted between two frames, to the interpolation frame for each unit region; a motion compensated image generation part for generating a forward motion compensated image and a backward motion compensated image on the basis of the interpolated motion vector; and an interpolation frame generation part for generating the interpolation frame by mutually averaging corresponding regions in the forward motion compensated image and the backward motion compensated image with weights being different in a normal region to which one or a pair of interpolated motion vectors are allocated for each unit region, and an abnormal region formed from at least either a collision region or a perforated region. |
