TRIGGERING OF DEVICE UNATTACHED TO WIRELESS NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless transmission and reception unit (WTRU) and a method implemented by the WTRU.SOLUTION: A method includes a step of monitoring a broadcast channel of a cell of a wireless network as to a trigger event while a WTRU is not attached to the wireless network. The WTRU starts attaching the WTRU to the wireless network on condition that the trigger event is detected while the broadcast channel is monitored. Another method includes a step of monitoring a paging channel of the cell of the wireless network as to the trigger event at intervals of length provided for the wireless network while the WTRU is not attached to the wireless network. The WTRU starts attaching the WTRU to the wireless network on condition that the trigger event is detected while the paging channel is monitored.
