Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for network entry when roaming. The method comprises: a user equipment searches for available networks in a roaming area; the user equipment obtains roaming history information, the roaming history information being used for recording information about networks with which a user attempts to register when the user is in roaming; the user equipment adjusts priorities of the found available networks according to the roaming history information; and the user equipment sequentially selects the found available networks as candidate networks in a descending order of the adjusted priorities of the found available networks, and attempts to register with the candidate networks. By using the method and apparatus for network entry when roaming provided in the embodiments of the present invention, the time of initial network entry of a user equipment in a roaming area can be shortened, thereby improving the user experience.
