PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy regenerating system comprising a regenerating hydraulic motor for converting hydraulic energy of discharged oil from an hydraulic actuator into rotating energy, and a generator for converting the rotating energy of the regenerating hydraulic motor into electric energy to be regenerated, for efficiently regenerating energy while avoiding an increase in the size of each of the regenerating hydraulic motor and the generator. SOLUTION: In a head side discharged oil path 12 on the upstream side of the regenerating hydraulic motor 13, an accumulator 17 for accumulating the pressure of discharged oil from a head side oil chamber 8a of a boom cylinder 8 is connected to a solenoid proportional check valve 19 for controlling the flow of oil in and out of the accumulator 17 in response to the rotating speed of the regenerating hydraulic motor 14.
