The method involves determining boundaries (6-9) of a useful area of a printing model. A process control unit is assigned to a condition depending on which the control unit lies within the boundaries by a raster image processor during producing a print control strip (3). Data are delivered to the processor for using the control unit with the condition within the boundaries. The control strip is stored in a printing model within a program routine.
