<p>The invention relates to a method of identifying wheels mounted on a vehicle. According to this method, after the vehicle is stopped, a procedure is established of monitoring the pressure of the wheels mounted on said vehicle, by which procedure measurements are made of the pressure of each wheel in order to detect possible variations of pressure, and when a drop of pressure is detected in a wheel by an amount that exceeds a threshold value, called offload threshold, representative of an off-loading of the respective wheel, an identification code of the wheel is stored in order to classify said wheel as an off-loaded wheel, and when an increase is detected in the pressure of a wheel by am amount exceeding the offload threshold, it is verified whether the identification code of the wheel is identical to the identification code of an off-loaded wheel, and if so, the storage of data concerning the off-loaded wheel is eliminated, and if not, the identification code of the wheel is stored in order to classify said wheel as a so-called newly-mounted replacement wheel. Finally, at the end of this monitoring procedure, the identification of the wheels mounted on the vehicle is deduced from the stored data related to each off-loaded wheel and each replacement wheel.</p> |
