PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boring tool which suppresses a degradation in the stiffness of a shank without spoiling the chip discharging performance. SOLUTION: In the boring tool, at least one of pockets 30, 40 is provided on the front end side 2 of a shank so as to extend from the front end side of the shank toward the rear end side of the shank such that the outer peripheral surface 4b of the shank opposed to the outer peripheral portion 21 of a cutting edge in the circumference is cut out. A rib 60 neighboring the pockets 30, 40 is extended from the front end side of the shank toward the rear end side of the shank such that at least the tip end portion of the rib 60 is formed so as to be offset toward the outer peripheral portion 21 of the cutting edge than the axis of the shank 1.
